Bichon Frise

Size: Small
Group: Small Dog Breeds
Hypoallergenic: Yes

A Bichon Frise is a small breed of French dog. Due to their merry temperament, they were often used by sailors when moving from continent to continent and now have an affinity for playing in the water. They have well rounded skulls and short non-pointed muzzles. Slightly larger dogs are also common but they generally are very small and fluffy with tails that carry over the back.

The Bichon Frise has a long and curly tail which is carried over the back. They have white curly hair with a black nose and round dark eyes. Bichon Frises coats consist of both an undercoat and an outer coat; the outer coat is coarser and curlier. Their coat is substantial and feels similar to velvet. While the colour of the coat is always white, there may be shadings of buff, cream or apricot around the ears or on the body.

Bichon Frises are recognised as being merry and cheerful in personality, they love being around humans and demand a lot of attention. These dogs are usually very sociable and intelligent. Bichon Frises are especially well suited around children due to their playful disposition and are exceptional companion dogs.
