French Bulldogs are smart, muscular dogs, heavy boned and very broad around the chest and back with an extraordinarily wide rib cage. They have a short but strong loin and from the shoulders the backline begins to rise progressively before sloping down to the tail, which is usually tucked up.

Bulldogs are well behaved pets in the home. They make excellent companions because of the unrelenting loyalty they show to their family. They have a playful and affectionate nature with a bit of a boisterous side to their personality.

The coat of the French Bulldogs is quite fine and short but smooth. They have soft skin it becomes very loose around the back of the neck and head. This creates lots of wrinkles on the face. They can be found in colours such as brindle, fawn, white and a mixture of too. Sometimes they are also found to have large spots of colour on their back or face.

FAQ

How big are French Bulldogs?
They usually grow to about 10-12 inches in height and around 10-13Kg in weight when fully matured.

What grooming requirements do French Bulldogs have/how much hair do they shed?
It is important to take good care of your Bulldog. They shed hair very regularly and will need brushing or combing at least twice a week. They really enjoy a good scratch and with very thick skin they can get very irritated as they are not agile enough to itch themselves. Do not bathe too regularly as the oils in their skin will be affected and dry skin will occur; 2-3 times per year should suffice. The most important aspect of cleanliness with Bulldogs is to clean out the dirt and debris between the wrinkles on their face and inside the ears. This should be done whenever possible and you can use ear wipes for both purposes.

How long do French Bulldogs typically live?
Between 9-12 years

Are French Bulldogs susceptible to any particular illnesses or diseases?
The most common issues with this breed are ear infections and chafing. The ear canals tend to be larger than in other species and this can become a problem for them. They also are prone to heart problems because of their abnormal size to weight ratio.
